Suits and Hello

Charlie has surprised us by LOVING to listen to broadway music.  It all started with the 2013 Tony Awards.

When we saw how much it captured his attention we started playing the songs for him every night before bed.  That bloomed into searching for old Tony performances, Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit from How I Met Your Mother and tickets to The Book of Mormon for mom and dad.

Now he sings along and sometimes even mimics the performers!  We plan to take him to some performances for kids as soon as possible.

This morning we played "Suits" on the way to Newcomb and mom and Charlie did some hand motions and sang along and had a good giggle fest over the whole thing.  Swoon.

Charlie waving to the neighbor

Doesn't get any cuter than this...I just LOVE his orange shorts.

Chinese food dinner

Yesterday was Mom and Dad's 8th anniversary so we went out for Chinese!  It's been a while since we went out to dinner and Charlie was a treat.  He loved the food and drank dad's Diet Coke and played with chopsticks.  Adorable.  In fact, at one point without our knowing he pulled out the straw and put it into the bucket with the chopsticks then pulled out a chopstick and stuck it in the drink like a straw!  Tots adorbs.

It's kind of hard to tell but here he is with the chopstick in the drink  :)

Easter Weekend

Charlie had a very fun Easter egg hunt at school.  We found out lots of interesting information about him hanging out with the teachers like the fact that he doesn't talk much.  Their theory is it's his way of having some control.  Interesting!  Although that day he did tell his friend Aubrey to "go away!" when Aubrey came up to him while he was drawing.  This is most likely him repeating what Mom tells Molly sometimes :)  I guess he just didn't want to be disturbed!

They enjoyed hearing him talk, though, and he said "Mommy" several times during the afternoon which I, of course, loved.

Another of his teachers told us he is a "free spirit" which makes me happy.

He LOVED looking for Easter eggs, drawing with chalk and just generally running around with his friends and teachers.  He also drank and drank and drank the delicious apple cider!

Then we had some fun cleaning out the car and eating greek yogurt with Dada...

Sunday Charlie found his Easter basket on the back steps and had some fun with chalk and bubbles followed by a picnic in Audubon with friends and yummy strawberries!

Overall the weekend was a total blast.  The weather was beautiful and we were all beat by the end, especially mama.

Busy fun weekend

We had a very busy and fun weekend. We did our normal weekly shopping on Saturday then Sunday we went to the grocery store early, came back and cleaned up the house. Then Linda and her husband and son came over to drop off a crib, toys, clothes and bedding which was so generous. After they left we walked to Tulane for the family fun day where we ate gumbo and saw some Tulane and Newcomb friends. Nap time followed the. Some water table play and a baseball game on the radio.

We had a great dinner of buffalo meatballs and made some chili for the week.

We started our two week meal plan and are excited to see how it goes!
